David Biraud's Sommelier's Notes

David Biraud's Sommelier's Notes
Who doesn't know Corton Charlemagne? A famous Chardonnay grown on its steeply sloping siliceous-calcareous marl soils. A Grand Cru aged for several months in oak barrels (30% new). The color is a light golden yellow, with beautiful viscosity. The aromatic palette immediately offers notes of crème fraîche, noble wood, but also ripe and juicy white fruit – it's powerful. Floral touches and acacia honey. What an aromatic palette! A very long and superbly suave and generous finish. It combines the power of old vines with the finesse of younger ones, developing a mineral and concentrated expression built for long aging.
